Freezes

Freezes are a fundamental element of breakdancing (breaking) that involve holding a static position or pose during a dance routine. They are often used as transitions between moves, to emphasize a dancer’s style, or to conclude a sequence of movements. Freezes showcase balance, strength, and control, making them visually striking components of a breakdancing performance.

Freezes can be executed in various body positions, such as on the hands, elbows, or head. Common types of freezes include:

    • Baby Freeze: A beginner-friendly position where the dancer balances on one arm while resting the head on the ground.
    • Chair Freeze: Involves supporting the body with both arms while the legs are lifted and bent, resembling a seated position.
    • Head Freeze: A more advanced move where the dancer balances on their head with the body extended vertically.
    • Elbow Freeze: A position where the dancer supports their weight on their elbows while their legs are lifted in various ways.
