Key Characteristics of the Airflare:

  • Movement Technique: In an airflare, the dancer begins in a downrock position (on the floor) and shifts their weight onto one hand. They then kick their legs upward and away from the body, creating a circular motion while rotating around their body. The move typically alternates between hands as the dancer continues to spin.
  • Body Positioning: The airflare requires the dancer to maintain a tight core and proper body alignment throughout the movement to achieve the desired height and control. The legs should be lifted and kicked out to enhance the illusion of flight.
  • Momentum: Successful execution of the airflare relies on generating sufficient momentum and maintaining a fluid motion. Breakers often use their legs and hips to propel themselves into the spin, allowing for a smooth transition between rotations.
