Straddle Planche

The straddle planche is an advanced bodyweight exercise that requires significant strength, balance, and control. It involves holding your body parallel to the ground while supported by your hands, with your legs spread apart in a straddle position. This move is commonly seen in gymnastics, calisthenics, and various forms of strength training.

How to Perform a Straddle Planche:

  • Starting Position: Begin by kneeling on the ground and placing your hands on the floor slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Your fingers should be pointing forward or slightly outward.
  • Engage Your Core: Tighten your abdominal muscles and engage your shoulders. This will help you maintain stability throughout the movement.
  • Lift Your Legs: Shift your weight forward and lift your feet off the ground. As you do this, spread your legs out to the sides into a straddle position, keeping them straight and together.
  • Push Through Your Hands: Use your hands to press into the floor, lifting your body higher. Your shoulders should be in front of your hands, and your body should remain parallel to the ground.
  • Hold the Position: Aim to hold the straddle planche for a few seconds, focusing on maintaining balance and control. Your legs should be held firmly in the straddle position, and your core should remain engaged.
  • Lower Back Down: To exit the straddle planche, carefully lower your legs back to the ground and return to the starting position.
